Software Upgrade Assistant
Initial Setup for Motorola

Need to update your Motorola device? Learn how to install the Upgrade Assistant on your PC or Mac to easily manage your software updates.

Before you begin

Ensure the following system requirements are met before installation of the Software Upgrade Assistant (SAU):
  • Windows® 7 and later or Mac OS 10.6 and later versions.
  • Up to 5GB of available computer storage (to store the Update File), USB cable and Internet connection.
The most recent phone software is available on the SUA/SRA tool a week after a new software update. During this time, the SUA/SRA is unavailable.
If the update fails to install, refer to the Software Upgrade Assistant - Motorla Software Update for assistance.

Windows

  1. Ensure you device is turned on, unlock it and connect it to your PC using a USB cable. When tethered, an AutoPlay pop-up opens automatically on the computer.
    Once connected, if available, ensure the CD-ROM feature is enabled on the device.
    1. From the device, swipe down on the
      Status Bar
      then tap the
      USB connection entry
      .
    2. Tap
      Software Installation mode
      .
  2. From the AutoPlay pop-up window, click
    Install Verizon Software Upgrade Assistant for Motorola
    .
    If the AutoPlay pop up window is not available, open Windows Explorer then click
    CD Drive Installer
    and double-click the
    setup.exe
    file to launch.
    Once the download process is complete, the Assistant checks for software updates.
  3. Click
    Yes
    to download and install the Software Upgrade Assistant.
  4. On the Welcome screen, click
    Next
    .
  5. To continue, review Terms and Conditions, click
    I accept the agreement
    then click
    Next
    .
  6. On the Select Destination Location screen, select the desired location or leave it as is and then click
    Next
    .
  7. On the Select Additional Tasks screen, click the Create a desktop shortcut checkbox if desired, then click
    Next
    .
  8. On the Ready to Install screen, click
    Install
    .
  9. When the installation process is complete, click the
    Launch Software Upgrade Assistant
    checkbox then click
    Finish
    .

Macintosh

  1. Ensure you device is turned on, unlock it and connect it to your PC using a USB cable. When tethered, an AutoPlay pop-up opens automatically on the computer.

  2. From the Installer screen, double-click the
    Install Verizon Wireless...Assistant icon
    .
  3. Click
    Yes
    to download and install the Software Upgrade Assistant.
  4. On the Introduction screen, click
    Continue
    .
  5. Review the Terms and Conditions then click
    Continue
    .
  6. On the Installation Type screen, click
    Install
    .
  7. When the installation process is complete, click
    Close
    .
