Samsung Galaxy Watch - Install System Updates

Here's how to check for and install software updates on your Galaxy Watch.

Update from the Galaxy Watch

Option only available when active as a standalone device.
  1. From the watch screen, press the
    Home button
     to open the apps screen.

  2. Navigate:
    Settings Settings icon
    General
    .
  3. Tap
    Update watch software
    .
  4. If prompted, review the mobile data message then tap the
    Checkmark icon
     to accept.
  5. If an update is available, tap
    Download
    .
    If prompted with 'The latest update has already been installed', tap
    OK
    . No update is necessary.

Update from an Android Smartphone

  1. From your connected Android smartphone, ensure the Galaxy Wearable app is installed and updated.
  2. Open the Galaxy Wearable app .
  3. Tap the
    Home tab
     (lower-left).
  4. Tap
    Watch software update
    .
  5. Tap
    Download and install
    .
    If desired, tap
    Auto download over Wi-Fi
     to turn on Switch on or off Switch off.
  6. Tap
    Install now
    .
    If 'Your software is up to date' appears, the Watch is up to date.
  7. From the 'Update watch software' screen, tap
    Install now
    .
  8. From the 'Update watch software' prompt, tap
    OK
    .
    The software update process may take several minutes to complete.

Update from an Apple iPhone

  1. From your connected Apple iPhone, ensure the Galaxy Wearable app is installed and updated.
  2. Open the Samsung Galaxy Watch (Gear S) app .
  3. From the Home tab, tap
    About watch
    .
  4. Tap
    Software information
    .
  5. If an update is available, tap
    Install
    .
