Add / Remove Face ID

Use Face ID on your Apple® iPad® to secure your device and personal info. If you decide to switch methods, you can delete your face data anytime.

Before you begin

Ensure a passcode has been set up.

Steps

  1. Open the
    Settings app
    .
  2. Tap
    Face ID & Passcode
    .
  3. Enter the current passcode, then do one of the following:
    • For first-time setup:
      1. Tap
        Set Up Face ID
        .
      2. Tap
        Get Started
         then follow the onscreen instructions.
      3. Tap
        Done
        .
    • To add an alternate appearance:
      1. Tap
        Set Up an Alternate Appearance
        .
      2. Tap
        Get Started
         then follow the onscreen instructions.
    • To remove face data:
      1. Tap
        Reset Face ID
        .
