Customize Your Home Screen

Personalizing the Home screen on your Pixel 4 / 4 XL makes daily tasks easier. Add, remove, or arrange apps, use widgets or set a wallpaper that matches your style.

Add Apps

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up from the middle to display all apps.
  2. Touch and hold an app.
  3. Drag-and-drop the shortcut onto the preferred Home screen location.

Add Widgets

  1. From a Home screen, touch and hold an empty space.
  2. Tap
    Widgets
    .
  3. Select a category then touch and hold a widget.
  4. Drag-and-drop the widget onto the preferred Home screen location.
  5. If applicable, tap additional options to activate the widget.

Add / Remove Folders

  1. From a Home screen, touch and hold a shortcut (e.g., Cloud, Contacts, etc.).
  2. Drag-and-drop the shortcut onto another shortcut (e.g., Gmail, Calendar, etc.) to create a new folder.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • To rename a folder:
      1. Tap the folder.
      2. Tap the
        Title bar
         at the bottom of the open folder.
      3. Enter a name then tap the
        Checkmark icon
        .
    • To remove a folder:
      1. Drag the app(s) out of an existing folder until the folder disappears.

Remove App / Widget

  1. From a Home screen, touch and hold the item (e.g., widget, shortcut, etc.).
  2. Drag-and-drop the item onto 'Remove' at the top of the screen.

Set Wallpaper

  1. From a Home screen, touch and hold an empty space.
  2. Tap
    Wallpaper & style
    .
  3. Tap
    Change wallpaper
    , then select the desired wallpaper category from the available folders (e.g., My photos, Landscapes, etc.).
  4. Tap an image, then select an option to preview:
    • Home screen
    • Lock screen
  5. Tap the
    Done icon
     then select an option to 'Set wallpaper on':
    • Lock screen
    • Home screen and lock screen
