Add / Remove Face Recognition

Use facial recognition on your Pixel 4 / 4 XL to secure your device and personal info. If you decide to switch methods, you can delete your face data anytime.

Before you begin

Steps

  1. Open the
    Settings app
    .
  2. Navigate:
    Security
    Face unlock
    .
  3. Do any of the following:
    • For first-time setup:
      1. Review the info, then tap
        I Agree
        .
      2. Review the info, then tap
        Start
        .
        If presented with a feedback option, select
        I agree
         then tap
        Confirm
         to opt in or
        Skip
         to decline.
      3. While holding the phone 8-20 inches away, position your face within the circle displayed onscreen.
      4. From the 'Looks good!' screen, tap
        Done
        .
    • To remove face data:
      1. From the 'Face unlock' menu, tap
        Delete face data
        .
      2. To confirm, review the disclaimer, then tap
        Delete
        .
