Add / Remove Fingerprint Recognition

Set up fingerprint recognition on your Galaxy S20+ 5G / S20 Ultra 5G for fast, secure access. Remove saved fingerprints when troubleshooting or changing devices.

Before you begin

Steps

  1. Open the
    Settings app
    .
  2. Navigate:
    Security and privacy
    Biometrics
    .
  3. Tap
    Fingerprints
     then tap
    Continue
     if prompted.
  4. Enter the current PIN, password or pattern.
  5. Do one of the following:
    • For first-time setup:
      1. Review the message then tap
        Register
        .
      2. Follow the onscreen tutorial to scan your fingerprint then repeat as necessary until the process is complete.
      3. Tap
        Done
        .
      4. Tap the
        Fingerprint unlock switch
         to turn on or off.
    • To add more fingerprints:
      1. Tap
        Add fingerprint
        .
      2. Review the message then tap
        Register
        .
      3. Follow the onscreen tutorial to scan your fingerprint then repeat as necessary until the process is complete.
      4. Tap
        Done
         if finished or
        Add
         to continue adding fingerprints.
    • To remove fingerprints:
      1. Touch and hold a fingerprint (e.g., Fingerprint 1, Fingerprint 2, etc.) until a blue checkmark appears.
      2. Select any additional fingerprints to delete or tap
        All
         to delete all fingerpints.
      3. Tap
        Remove
        .
      4. To confirm, review the disclaimer then tap
        Remove
        .
