Use the Blood Oxygen App

Using the Blood Oxygen app on your Apple Watch® lets you measure your blood oxygen saturation, which can offer insights into your overall wellness.

Before you begin

The steps below apply to the Watch Series 6 or newer.
The Blood Oxygen app isn't available when the watch is set up in Standalone Mode (Apple Watch For Your Kids) or for users under 18 years old.

Take a Blood Oxygen Measurement

  1. On the connected iPhone, open the
    Health app
    .
  2. Navigate:
    Browse
    Respiratory
    Blood Oxygen
    .
  3. Tap
    Enable
    then follow the on-screen instructions.
  4. Ensure your watch fits comfortably on your wrist.
  5. From the watch, open the
    Blood Oxygen app
    .
  6. While remaining still and ensuring your wrist is flat with the watch is facing up, tap
    Start
    .
  7. Keep your arm steady for 15 seconds then view the results.

Enable / Disable Background Measurements

  1. On the connected iPhone, open the
    Health app
    .
  2. Tap the
    Search icon
    .
  3. Navigate:
    Respiratory
    Blood Oxygen
    .
  4. Tap
    Enable
    then follow the on-screen instructions.
  5. From the watch, open the
    Settings app
    .
  6. Tap
    Blood Oxygen
    .
  7. Tap any of the following to turn on or off:
    • In Sleep Mode
    • In Theater Mode

View Health Info

  1. On the connected iPhone, open the
    Health app
    .
  2. Tap the
    Search icon
    .
  3. Navigate:
    Respiratory
    Blood Oxygen
    .
  4. View your Blood Oxygen info.
