Move Media Files to / from Computer

Connecting your Pixel 4a 5G UW to a computer allows you to move photos, videos or music to free up storage space or back them up to make sure your files are safe..

Before you begin

If using a Macintosh® computer, additional software is required in order to transfer files.

Steps

  1. Connect your Pixel 4a 5G UW to a computer using the supplied USB cable.
  2. If prompted to allow access to your data, tap
    Allow
    .
    1. If necessary, touch and hold the
      Status bar
       then drag to the bottom.
    2. From the list of notifications, locate then tap the
      Android system icon
       (e.g., Charging this device via USB, Image transfer, etc.).
    3. Select
      File transfer / Android Auto
      .
  3. From your computer, open
    File Explorer
     or
    Windows Explorer
    .
  4. Using File Explorer or Windows Explorer, navigate:
    Pixel 4a (5G)
    Internal shared storage
    .
  5. Use the computer to copy media files between the applicable folder (e.g., DCIM/Camera, Download, Movies, etc.) on the device and the desired location on the computer's hard drive.
