Add / Remove Face Recognition

Use facial recognition on your Galaxy Tab S8+ 5G to secure your device and personal info. If you decide to switch methods, you can delete your face data anytime.

Before you begin

If synced to a corporate Exchange account, the availability of this option depends on the policies of your IT admin.

Steps

  1. Open the
    Settings app
    .
  2. Navigate:
    Security and privacy
    Screen lock and biometrics
    .
  3. Enter the current PIN, password or pattern.
  4. Tap
    Face recognition
    .
  5. Do one of the following:
    • For first-time setup:
      1. From the Face recognition prompt, review the info then tap
        Continue
        .
      2. Review the Face registration help then tap
        Register
        .
      3. Align your face within the circle and follow onscreen prompts until the process is complete.
      4. Tap any of the switches to turn on or off (e.g., Face unlock, Stay on Lock screen until swipe, etc.).
    • To add another recognized face:
      1. Tap
        Add alternative appearance to enhance recognition
        .
      2. While holding the phone 8-20 inches away, position your face within the square displayed on the screen.
    • To remove face data:
      1. Tap
        Remove face data
        .
      2. Read the disclaimer then tap
        Remove
        .
