Keep your home network secure by choosing whether to display or hide your Wi-Fi name for your Internet Gateway.

Before you begin

Your Verizon Internet Gateway has a network name or SSID (Service Set Identifier) assigned to it. The SSID is usually broadcast by default, but can be turned off for greater security.
When turned off, any device trying to connect for the first time must know the SSID name and password to set up a manual connection to it.
For the easiest connection experience, it's recommended to leave the broadcast on.

Steps

  1. Access the router admin page.
  2. From the left menu, click
    Wi-Fi
     then select
    Primary Network
    .
  3. From the Primary Network section, click the
    Gear icon
     to expand the section.
  4. Click the
    Broadcast Wi-Fi network name switch
     to enable or disable.
  5. Click
    Apply Changes
