Add / Remove Fingerprint Recognition

Set up fingerprint recognition on your Pixel 7 / 7 Pro for fast, secure access. Remove saved fingerprints when troubleshooting or changing devices.

Before you begin

Steps

  1. Open the
    Settings app
    .
  2. Navigate:
    Security & privacy
    Device unlock
    Face & Fingerprint Unlock
    .
  3. Enter the current PIN, password or pattern.
  4. Tap
    Fingerprint Unlock
     then do one of the following:
    • For first-time setup:
      1. Review the message then tap
        I agree
        .
      2. To continue tap
        Start
        .
      3. Using the onscreen prompts as a guide, lightly tap the
        fingerprint sensor
         on the screen of your device multiple times to scan your fingerprint.
      4. Tap
        Done
        .
    • To add more fingerprints:
      1. Tap
        Add fingerprint
        .
      2. Using the onscreen prompts as a guide, lightly tap the
        fingerprint sensor
         on the screen of your device multiple times to scan your fingerprint.
      3. Tap
        Done
         if finished or
        Add fingerprint
         to continue adding fingerprints.
    • To remove fingerprint(s):
      1. Tap the
        Trash icon
         to the right of the fingerprint(s) you wish to remove.
      2. Tap
        Delete
