Use facial recognition on your Galaxy Z Flip5 to secure your device and personal info. If you decide to switch methods, you can delete your face data anytime.

Before you begin

If synced to a corporate exchange account, the availability of this option depends on the policies of your IT admin.
Ensure a secure screen lock type has been set up.

Steps

  1. Open the
    Settings app
    .
  2. Navigate:
    Security and privacy
    Lock screen
    .
  3. Enter the current PIN, password or pattern.
  4. Tap
    Face recognition
    .
  5. Do one of the following:
    • For first-time setup:
      1. From the Face recognition screen, review the info then tap
        Continue
        .
      2. Tap
        Register
        .
      3. While holding the phone 8-20 inches away, position your face within the circle displayed onscreen.
      4. When prompted, tilt your head up.
      5. If wearing glasses, remove them when prompted then tap
        Continue
        .
      6. From the Face recognition menu, tap any of the switches to turn on or off (e.g., Face unlock, Stay on Lock screen until swipe, etc.).
    • To remove face data:
      1. From the Face recognition menu, tap
        Remove face data
        .
      2. To confirm, review the disclaimer then tap
        Remove
        .
