Adjusting the Voice & Data setting on your iPhone 16 Pro / iPhone 16 Pro Max can help ensure reliable cellular performance and optimize battery life.

Before you begin

Steps

  1. Open the
    Settings app
    .
  2. Tap
    Cellular
    .
  3. Tap the
    Cellular Data switch
     to turn on.
    If using an eSIM, Cellular Data is enabled by default on the preferred line (e.g., Primary Secondary, etc.).
  4. Tap
    Cellular Data Options
     then tap
    Voice & Data
    .
    If using Dual SIM, from the SIMs section, select the default eSIM line then tap
    Voice & Data
    .
  5. Select from the following options:
    When the device is locked or in an idle state then is unlocked, LTE may briefly display.
    • 5G On
    • 5G Auto
    • LTE
  6. Tap the
    5G Standalone switch
     to turn on or off.
