Add / Remove Face Recognition

Use facial recognition on your moto g - 2025 to secure your device and personal info. If you decide to switch methods, you can delete your face data anytime.

Before you begin

Ensure a secure lock screen  (e.g., Pattern, PIN, or password) is set up.

Steps

  1. Open the
    Settings app
    .
  2. Navigate:
    Security & privacy
    Device unlock
    Face & Fingerprint Unlock
    .
  3. Enter the current PIN, password, or pattern, then tap
    Face Unlock
    .
  4. Do one of the following:
    • For first time setup:
      1. Tap
        Set up
        .
      2. Tap any of the switches to turn on or off then tap
        Next
        .
      3. While holding the phone 8-20 inches away, position your face within the circle displayed on-screen.
      4. From the 'Face unlock is active' screen, tap
        Done
        .
    • To remove face data:
      1. From the 'Face Unlock' menu, tap
        Delete face data
        .
      2. To confirm, review the disclaimer then tap
        Delete
        .
