Add / Remove Fingerprint Recognition

Set up fingerprint recognition on your moto g play - 2026 for fast, secure access. Remove saved fingerprints when troubleshooting or changing devices.

Before you begin

Steps

  1. Open the
    Settings app
    .
  2. Navigate:
    Security & privacy
    Device unlock
    Face & Fingerprint Unlock
    .
  3. Enter the current PIN, password or pattern.
  4. Tap
    Fingerprint
     then do one of the following:
    • For first-time setup:
      1. From the Unlock with your fingerprint screen, review the info then tap
        Setup
        .
      2. Follow the onscreen tutorial to scan your fingerprint.
      3. Tap
        Done
        .
    • To add more fingerprints:
      1. Tap
        Add fingerprint
        .
      2. Follow the onscreen tutorial to scan your fingerprint.
      3. Tap
        Done
         if finished or
        Add another
         to continue adding fingerprints.
    • To remove fingerprint(s):
      1. Tap the
        Trash icon
         to the right of the fingerprint you want to remove.
      2. To confirm, tap
        Delete
