Add / Remove Face Recognition

Use facial recognition on your Pixel 10a to secure your device and personal info. If you decide to switch methods, you can delete your face data anytime.

Before you begin

Ensure a secure lock screen (e.g., Pattern, PIN, or password) is set up.

Steps

  1. Open the
    Settings app
    .
  2. Navigate:
    Security & privacy
    Device unlock
    Face
    .
  3. Enter the current PIN, password or pattern.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • For first-time setup:
      1. Review the info about Face Unlock then tap
        I agree
        .
      2. Review the info on how to set up Face Unlock then tap
        Start
        .
      3. From the 'Help make Face unlock better' screen, read the info, tap the
        Keep Better Data ... switch
         to turn on or off then tap
        Next
        .
      4. While holding the phone 8-20 inches away, position your face within the circle displayed onscreen.
      5. From the 'Looks good!' screen, tap
        Done
        .
    • To remove face data:
      1. Tap the
        Trash icon
         to the right of the face you wish to remove.
      2. To confirm, review the disclaimer then tap
        Delete
        .
