Before shipping, trading in, selling or gifting your iPhone 18 Pro Max, follow these steps to activate Ready to Ship Mode which safely discharges the battery for return.

Before you begin

If your iPhone 18 Pro Max has already been reset / wiped and Ready to Ship wasn't activated, put your iPhone in diagnostics mode then navigate:
Run Diagnostics
Prepare to Ship
Start Diagnostic

Steps

  1. Open the
    Settings app
    .
  2. Navigate:
    General
    Transfer or Reset iPhone
    Prepare to Ship
    .
  3. If prompted, enter your Apple ID password.
  4. Select one of the following:
    • To prepare your iPhone to be shipped to Verizon or another recipient, tap
      Repair / Trade-In / Return
      .
    • To prepare your iPhone to be shipped for another reason such as selling or gifting, tap
      Other
      .
  5. Review the prompt then tap
    Continue
    .
  6. Tap
    Erase iPhone
     or
    Don't Erase iPhone
    .
  7. To continue, follow the on screen steps to ensure device prepares to ship.
