No longer supported: Advanced Messaging in Samsung Messages

The information you are seeking is no longer available because Verizon no longer supports Rich Communication Services (RCS) in the Samsung Messages app.

To continue using RCS, we recommend Google Messages as the replacement app for messaging. To switch to Google Messages:

  1. Open or download Google Messages. The first time you open the app, a message appears: “To use Messages, make it your default SMS app.”
  2. Tap the Set default SMS app button.
  3. Select Google Messages. Google Messages is the white icon with the blue conversation bubble.
  4. Tap Set as default.

Google Messages is now your default messaging app. Move Google Messages to the home screen dock for easier access.

When you switch from Samsung Messages to Google Messages, Google Message automatically syncs your text messages, photos and videos over 5 MB are transferred by accessing these files from your device’s local storage.
