Software Upgrade Assistant (Kyocera) - Initial Setup

Here's how to install the Kyocera Software Upgrade Assistant on your computer.
  • This shows you how to install the Kyocera Software Upgrade Assistant on your computer/PC.
  • If the update fails to install, please refer to the Software Repair Assistant for further assistance.
  • Ensure the following requirements are met prior to installation of the Software Upgrade Assistant (SUA):
    • System Requirements
      • Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10
      • Mac OS isn't currently supported
      • Up to 750MB of available computer disk memory
      • High-speed Internet connection
    • Equipment Requirements
      • USB cable
    • The most recent software version becomes available on the SUA/SRA tool within a week of a new software update. During this time, the SUA/SRA is unavailable for usage.
  1. Ensure the wireless device is powered on and unlocked (if device lock is enabled), then connect it to a compatible computer using the supplied USB cable.
  2. On the device, do one of the following:
    • From a touchscreen device:
      1. Touch and hold the
        Status bar
        (area at the top of the phone screen with the time, signal strength, etc.) then drag to the bottom.
      2. Tap the
        USB icon
        then select
        System Update
        .
        Tap the USB Icon
    • From a non-touchscreen device:
      1. From the 'Allow access to your data' message, select
        Other USB options
        .
        If the message doesn't automatically appear, navigate:
        Menu
        Settings & tools
        Settings
        Phone settings
        USB Mode
        .
      2. Select
        System Update
        .
  3. From the AutoPlay pop up window on the computer, click 'Run TL-Bootstrap.exe' or 'Run VZW_Software_upgrade_assistant.exe'.
    When tethered, an Autoplay pop up opens automatically on the computer.
    If the AutoPlay pop up window is not available, use Windows Explorer to locate the .exe file.
  4. When prompted with software is available to download, click
    Yes
    .
  5. Review the terms and conditions and click
    Agree
    to continue installation.
  6. From the Upgrade-Repair Assistant window, click 'Install Now' or 'Yes'.
  7. If prompted, from 'Welcome to the Verizon Software Upgrade Assistant' click
    Next
    .
  8. If prompted to review destination location, click
    Next
    .
  9. When prompted with 'Installation is now Complete', click
    Finish
    .
