Gmail for Android - Manage Notifications

Here's how to manage your Gmail notification settings for your Android smartphone / tablet.
Ensure your Google apps are up to date as the following steps apply to the most recent version of the Gmail™ app on your Android™ device.
  1. Open the
    Gmail app
     Gmail icon.
  2. Tap the
    Menu icon
     Menu icon.
  3. Tap
    Settings
    .
  4. Tap the appropriate account (below General settings).
  5. Tap
    Notifications
     then select an option:
    • All
    • High priority only
    • None
  6. When enabled, tap
    Inbox notifications
     then select an option:
    • Label notifications
    • Notify for every message
  7. From the 'Inbox notifications' screen, tap
    Sync messages
     and ensure it's set to 'Last 30 days' or 'All'.
  8. Tap the
    back arrow
     then tap
    Notification sounds
    .
  9. Tap
    Sound
     then select a sound.
    To disable sound, ensure 'None' is selected.
  10. Tap the
    back icon
     then tap
    Done
    .
