Activate / Set Up Device - Samsung Galaxy J3 V

Here's how to complete a quick setup for your Galaxy J3 V.

If you need to transfer contacts and media from one device to another, follow these step-by-step instructions before activating the new device.

Accounts (e.g., Gmail, email, etc.) should be set up after activating the device (see the Additional Support section at the bottom of this page).

To activate the device on prepaid service, refer to Set up Verizon Prepaid Service.

Wi-Fi Calling settings don't transfer after switching devices and/or performing a factory data reset.

If powered off, press and hold the

Power button

(right edge) until the Samsung logo appears then release.

Tap the appropriate language then tap

From the Phone Activation screen, tap Next or tap Activate Now (if available).

If prompted, enter the last 4 digits of the Account Owner's Social Security Number or the Billing Password.

If activating a new phone, ensure the old phone is powered off and allow several minutes for the deactivation of the old phone to complete.

If presented, from the "Verify your account" screen, sign in with a Google Account that was previously synced on the device.

From the Add your account (Google) screen, navigate:

From the Name screen, enter the first and last names then tap

From the "Protect your phone" screen, tap (uncheck)

Protect this device

then tap

From the Google services screen, tap any of the following services to enable or disable then tap

Enabled when a checkmark is present.

Help apps find your location

Improve location accuracy

Help improve your Android experience

From the Verizon Cloud screen, tap

SKIP

then tap

To add Verizon Cloud after initial setup, from a Home screen navigate:

From the Email setup screen, tap

SKIP

From the Setup Wizard summary screen, tap

DONE

From the Samsung account screen, tap

Add a Personal / Corporate Email Account

Add an Existing Google Account

Enable / Disable / Modify Screen Lock
