Apple iPhone - Add / Remove Touch ID

Here's how to set up and manage Touch ID fingerprint recognition to unlock your iPhone.
  • The steps below only apply to the Apple® iPhone® models with Touch ID. For more help with Touch ID, check out this Apple Support page.
  • For the fingerprint scanner to operate, hands must be clean and moisture-free.
  1. Open the
    Settings app
    .
  2. Tap
    Touch ID & Passcode
     then enter the passcode.
  3. Tap
    Add a Fingerprint
    .
  4. Perform one of the following:
    • First Time Setup
      1. Place finger over the
        Home button
         then follow on-screen prompts to capture fingerprint.
        Don't click the Home button during scan.
    • Add More Touch ID Fingerprints
      1. Place finger over the
        Home button
         then follow on-screen prompts to capture fingerprint.
        Don't click the Home button during scan.
    • Remove Touch ID Fingerprints
      1. Tap the fingerprint name then tap
        Delete Fingerprint
        .
    • Edit Touch ID Fingerprint Name
      1. Tap the fingerprint name, update the info then tap
        Done
        .
