Samsung Galaxy S9 / S9+ - Customize Your Home Screen

Here's how to add / remove Home screen items (widgets, apps or folders) and set the wallpaper on your Galaxy S9 / S9+.
To customize the Home screen on your Samsung Galaxy S9 / S9+, do any of the following:

A shortcut to an individual contact or bookmark can be added to the Home screen via a widget.
  1. From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
  2. Touch and hold the preferred shortcut (app) then perform one of the following:
    • Tap
      Add to Home
      .
      A new Home screen panel is created with the shortcut.
    • Drag the shortcut to the desired Home screen then release.
      For the app to be successfully added, there must be sufficient space within the selected Home screen. If needed, additional Home screen panels may be added.
Widgets are mini-apps (e.g., weather, clock, calendar, etc.) that can be added to a Home screen. They aren't the same as shortcuts as they generally display info and take up more space than a single icon.
  1. From a Home screen, touch and hold an empty space.
  2. Tap
    Widgets
    .
  3. Touch and hold a widget.
  4. Drag the widget to the preferred home screen then release.
    For the widget to be successfully added, there must be sufficient space on the desired screen. If needed, additional Home screen panels may be added.
  5. If applicable, tap additional options to activate widget.
    Options vary depending upon the type of widget.
  1. From a Home screen, touch and hold an app (e.g., Email, My Verizon, etc.).
  2. Drag the app on to another app (e.g. Gmail, Call Filter, etc.) then release it.
    A folder containing the shortcuts is created. To rename the folder:
    To remove a folder, drag the app(s) out of an existing folder until the folder disappears.
    1. Tap the folder.
    2. Tap
      Folder name
      .
    3. Enter a name for the folder then tap
      Done

    To remove a folder, drag the app(s) out of an existing folder until the folder disappears.
  1. From a Home screen, touch and hold the item (e.g., widget, shortcut, folder, etc.) until the menu appears then release.
  2. Tap the applicable option:
    • Select items
    • Remove from Home
    • Uninstall
  1. From a Home screen, touch and hold a blank area.
  2. Tap
    Wallpaper
    .
  3. From the 'Wallpaper' screen, perform on of the following:
    • To use an existing wallpaper image:
      1. Tap
        My wallpapers
        .
      2. Select a wallpaper image from the list.
      3. Select an option (e.g., Home screen, Lock screen, Home and lock screens).
      4. If prompted, tap
        Sync my edits
        .
        Selected when a checkmark is present.
      5. Tap
        Set on Home and Lock screen
        to confirm.
    • To use an image from your gallery:
      1. Tap
        Gallery
        .
      2. Locate then select the preferred picture.
      3. Tap
        Done
        .
      4. Select an option (e.g., Home screen, Lock screen, Home and lock screens).
      5. If prompted, tap
        Sync my edits
        .
      6. Tap
        Set on Home and Lock screen
        to confirm.
    • To use a Wallpaper service:
      • Tap
        Wallpaper services
        .
      • Tap
        Dynamic Lock screen
        .
        Selected when a blue dot is present.
      • Tap
        Apply
        .
      • Select an image then tap
        Download
        .
      • To only download new images when connected to Wi-Fi, tap
        Using Wi-Fi only
        .
        Selected when a checkmark is present.
