Set Up Intelligent Scan Recognition

Here's how to set up or remove intelligent scan eye and facial recognition, to unlock your Galaxy S9 / S9+.

Before you begin

Steps

  1. Open the
    Settings app
    .
  2. Navigate:
    Biometrics and security
    Intelligent Scan
    .
  3. Do one of the following:
    • For first time setup:
      1. Review the info then tap
        Continue
        .
      2. From the Are you wearing glasses right now screen, select
        Yes
         or
        No
         then tap
        Continue
        .
      3. To register your face, hold the phone 8-20 inches away, position your face within the circle displayed onscreen.
      4. To register your irises, hold the phone 10-14 inches away, open your eyes wide and look at the screen.
      5. Tap the
        Notifications switches
         to turn each option on or off.
    • To remove face and iris data:
      1. Tap
        Remove face and iris data
        .
      2. To confirm, review the disclaimer then tap
        Remove
        .
