Apple iPhone - Enable / Disable / Modify Screen Lock

Here's how to set up, change or disable the passcode for your iPhone.
If the passcode is forgotten, your Apple® iPhone® needs to be restored to default settings using iTunes. Refer to this iTunes support page for instructions.
  1. Open the
    Settings app
    .
  2. Tap
    Display & Brightness
    .
  3. Tap
    Auto-Lock
    then select the auto-lock time interval.
  4. Tap Back icon
    Back
    then tap Back icon
    Settings
    .
  5. Select the option for your device:
    • If your iPhone is Face ID capable, tap
      Face ID & Passcode
      .
    • If your iPhone is Touch ID capable, tap
      Touch ID & Passcode
      .
  6. Do one of the following:
    • Turn on Passcode
      1. Tap
        Turn Passcode On
        .
      2. Enter a passcode then re-enter it to continue.
        Tap
        Passcode Options
        to choose other passcode options (e.g., Custom Alphanumeric, Custom Numeric, etc.).
      3. If prompted, enter your Apple ID password then tap
        Sign In
        .
      4. From the 'ALLOW ACCESS WHEN LOCKED' section, tap any of the available options (i.e., Today View and Search, Notification Center, Control Center, etc.) to turn on or off.
    • Turn off Passcode
      1. Enter your passcode then tap
        Turn Passcode Off
        .
      2. Review the message, then tap
        Turn Off
        .
      3. If prompted, enter your Apple ID password.
    • Change Passcode
      1. Enter your passcode then tap
        Change Passcode
        .
      2. Enter a new passcode then re-enter it to continue.
        Tap
        Passcode Options
        to choose other passcode options (e.g., Custom Alphanumeric, Custom Numeric, etc.).
