Activate / Set Up DeviceActivate your Pixel 4 / 4 XL to get started. This ensures you can make calls, send messages, and connect to the internet.
Before you begin
To avoid activation issues, connect your Pixel to a strong Wi-Fi network and ensure the battery is at least 50% charged.
If using a physical SIM card, make sure there's a 5G SIM card is inserted into the device before powering on then select the SIM as the default cellular data number after setup is complete.
If the eSIM profile fails to download, refer to Download and Activate an eSIM after device setup is completed.
Steps
- Press and hold thePower buttonuntil the Google logo appears. Select a language then tapGet started.
- From the Phone activation screen, tapContinue.
- Connect to a Wi-Fi network.
- To copy apps and data, tapNextto transfer your content.
- From the Use another device screen, select an option.
- Sign in to your Google™ account or create a new one.
- Review the Google Services and additional legal terms, then tapAccept.
- From the Set a PIN screen, enter a PIN code then tapNext.
- Follow the onscreen prompts to configure Google Assistant features (e.g., Voice Match, Squeeze for Assistant).
- Set up a screen lock to secure your device.
- Follow the prompts to set up Quick Gestures.
- Review the Anything else and Tips & tricks screens, then select an option.
- Review the navigation gestures and tapTry it.
- Once the All set screen displays, swipe up to return to the Home screen.
