Samsung Galaxy Watch3 - Activate / Set Up Device
Here's how to activate and set up your Galaxy Watch3 via Number Share or as a standalone device.
If the Galaxy Watch was purchased outside of Verizon, contact us to start a line of service for your device.
Set up your Galaxy Watch3 using one of the following companion device options:
Set Up Using an Android Smartphone
- The Galaxy Watch3 can be set up via Number Share or as a standalone device. To use the Galaxy Watch3 without a companion device, complete the steps below then refer to Set Up as a Standalone Device.To set up with Number Share, the companion smartphone must be activated on the same Verizon account as the Galaxy Watch3.
- If you're replacing an existing Samsung smartwatch, refer to Replace Existing Device.
- If you're pairing an existing Samsung smartwatch with a new Android smartphone, refer to Connect to New Phone.
- Before completing the steps below, verify:
- your companion Android™ smartphone has a cellular or Wi-Fi connection.
- you're in a Verizon coverage area.
- your eSim activation has been processed and you've received the QR code via email.
- Ensure the Galaxy Watch3 is is charged and powered on.If necessary, tap the watch display to begin.
- Install the Galaxy Wearable app
on the companion Android smartphone.
- Open theGalaxy Wearable app.
- TapStart.
- If prompted, tapAllowto approve the necessary permissions.
- From the 'Pick your device' screen, tapGalaxy Watch3.
- If prompted, from the 'Devices spotted nearby' screen, tap theGalaxy Watch3.
- Ensure the passkey matches what's displayed on the Galaxy Watch3 then tapConfirmon the smartphone and theCheckmark icon
on the Galaxy Watch3.
Allow a few minutes for pairing to complete. - If using a non-Samsung Android smartphone to complete setup, tapOKthen tapInstallto allow the Gear Plugin and Samsung Accessory Service to install.

- If prompted, tapOKto link Galaxy Watch3 PlugIn with Galaxy Watch3.
- If prompted, tapAllowto let your Galaxy Watch3 access location, contacts, manage phone calls, access your calendar, access your phone call logs, and send and view SMS messages.
- If prompted, tapSign into complete the Samsung account setup and follow the on-screen steps.If you choose 'Skip', you can add a Samsung account after setup is complete.
- If prompted to Restore your watch from backups, do the following:
- TapCheck for backupto retrieve a previous Samsung smartwatch backup then tapNext.If you prefer to set up as new, tapSkip for nowthen tapNext.If troubleshooting, don't restore the device until all testing has been completed.
- Tap thedropdownthen select the appropriate backup file.
- Select the data (e.g., Phone, Messages, etc.) you want to restore then tapRestore.Selected when a checkmark is present
- Do one of the following:If you choose 'Skip', you can add a cellular plan after setup is complete.
- Set up with a QR code:
- TapUse code.
- Point the smartphone's camera at the QR code below and scan it.The QR code will only work if the Galaxy Watch3 has been activated on a Verizon mobile number.If prompted, tapAllowto grant camera permission.
- TapUse plan.
- Set up without a QR code on an existing Verizon account with a new Number Share line of service (if the Galaxy Watch3 was purchased outside of Verizon):
- TapSign up for one now.
- TapNext.
- Ensure the phone number to your Verizon smartphone is displayed then enter your My Verizon password and tapContinue.Only Account Owners or Account Managers can perform these steps. Here's additional info on account roles.
- Follow on-screen steps to select desired plan.Options vary by account plan.
- After mobile service has been set up, tapDonethe 'Mobile service for your watch' screen.The watch restarts.This process may take up to 2 minutes.
Continue to use in conjunction with a companion smartphone for maximum functionality. To un-pair your companion smartphone and use the Galaxy Watch3 as a standalone device, reset the watch then set up as a standalone device.
Do not reset network settings during reset.
Standalone mode can't be used with Number Share.
Set Up Using an Apple iPhone
- The Galaxy Watch3 can be set up via Number Share or as a standalone device. To use the Galaxy Watch3 without a companion device, complete the steps below then refer to Set Up as a Standalone Device.To set up with Number Share, the companion smartphone must be activated on the same Verizon account as the Galaxy Watch3.
- If you're replacing an existing Samsung smartwatch, refer to Replace Existing Device.
- If you're pairing an existing Samsung smartwatch with a new phone, refer to Connect to New Phone.
- Before completing the steps below, verify:
- your companion Apple iPhone® has a cellular or Wi-Fi connection.
- you're in a Verizon coverage area.
- your eSim activation has been processed and you've received the QR code via email.
- Ensure the Galaxy Watch3 is is charged and powered on.If necessary, tap the watch display to begin.
- Install the Samsung Galaxy Watch (Gear S) app on the companion Apple iPhone.
- Open theSamsung Galaxy Watch (Gear S) app.
- If prompted with 'Galaxy Watch Would Like to Use Bluetooth ', tapOK.If necessary, tapSettingsthen tap theBluetooth switchto turn on

- TapSTART THE JOURNEY.
- From the 'Pick your watch' screen, tapGalaxy Watch3.
- From the 'Watches spotted nearby' screen, tapGalaxy Watch3.
- From the bluetooth Pairing Request prompt, tapPairon the Iphone and theCheckmark icon
on the Galaxy Watch3.
- Review the End User License Agreement and Privacy Policy, select (check) the desired options (e.g., Report diagnostic info, etc.) then tapAgree.
- Tap 'Allow' or 'OK' to let Galaxy Watch send you notifications, access your calendar, or access your contacts.
- TapSIGN INto complete Samsung account setup.If you choose 'Skip', you can add a Samsung account after setup is complete.
- From the 'Set up a mobile plan' screen, tapUse code.If you choose 'Skip', you can add a cellular plan after setup is complete.
- If prompted, tapOKto allow Galaxy Watch to access your camera.
- Point the iPhone's camera at the QR code below and scan it.The QR code will only work if the Galaxy Watch3 has been activated on a Verizon mobile number.
- TapUse plan.
- TapNEXT.
- TapConfirm.If presented, tapAllowfor notification permissions.
- If presented, select the desired location permission option:
- Only While Using the App
- Always Allow
- Don't Allow
- If presented, review the info then tapFINISH.
