LTE Network Extender - Ensure Minimum Speed / Bandwidth Requirements
Here's how to determine your connection meets the requirements to use your LTE Network Extender.
- The Network Extender is not supported for use with satellite or wireless broadband service.
- Routers may require special configuration (e.g., Firewall , Quality of Service (QoS) settings) to ensure the best possible call quality.
- Refer to the Internet Service Provider (ISP), Network Administrator, or equipment manufacturer for assistance with these settings.
- When placing or receiving a call, ensure that all bandwidth-intensive processes are disabled. These processes include but are not limited to:
- File sharing
- Music / Video streaming
- Uploading/Downloading files
- Windows or Antivirus Updates
The 4G LTE Network Extender for Enterprise requires an always-on broadband Internet connection with a minimum speed of 10 Mbps; 20 Mbps is optimal. Coverage is up to 7,500 square feet (approximately a 50 foot radius) depending on home construction and 4G LTE Network Extender placement.
Minimum | Recommended | |
Download | 10 Mbps | 20 Mbps |
Upload | 5 Mbps | 10 Mbps |
While we can't recommend a specific site or app, there are many online resources that can help determine if an Internet connection and/or router can support VoIP throughput. Some examples are:
- Browser-based:Browser-Based - verizon.com/speedtest/
- Java-based:Java-Based - www.megapath.com/speedtestplus/
- Google™Android™andApple®iOS:
- Download the FCC Speed Test app. Note Refer to download instructions for Android or iOS.
- TapStart Testing(at the bottom). Note Perform all testing on the same network
- Ensure the following switches are toggled on: Note Tapping Latency toggles all 3 switches at once.
- Latency
- Jitter
- Packet loss
If prompted, refer to Install Java for additional info. Alternatively, a variety of apps can test VoIP throughput. Refer to download instructions for Android or iOS to locate and install a QoS testing app.
Perform all testing on the same network as the Network Extender.
The links above are provided as a convenience and for informational purposes only. Verizon Wireless doesn't provide support for third-party websites or apps.
The table below outlines ISP quality requirements. This is the maximum Packet, Jitter, and Qos threshold that are required for the Network Extender to function.
Packet Loss | <0.25% |
Jitter | <15ms |
QoS (Consistency) | >80% |
