Create a Microsoft Account

Setting up a Microsoft account is a quick way to enhance your Windows® 11 experience. Follow these steps to unlock cloud storage, automatic device encryption and seamless cross-device connectivity.

Before you begin

The following steps only apply if you signed in without a Microsoft® account during the initial setup of your device and don't have an existing account.
The first Microsoft account to sign in is designated as the owner of the device. Any subsequent accounts that are used to sign in won't have owner privileges (the ability to change or modify users, etc.).

Steps

  1. Open the
    Start menu
    .
  2. Navigate:
    Settings
    Accounts
    Your info
  3. From the 'Account settings' section, select
    Sign in with a Microsoft account instead
    .
  4. From the 'Sign in' screen, select
    Create one
    .
  5. Do one of the following then select
    Next
    .
    • Enter your existing email address.
    • Select
      Get a new email address
      .
    • Sekect
      Use a phone number instead
      .
  6. If presented, follow the onscreen prompts to complete the setup.
