Restart in Safe Mode

Restarting your Galaxy S22 / S22+ / S22 Ultra in Safe Mode puts it into a diagnostic state that only runs system apps so you can determine if a third-party app is causing freezing or slowness.

Before you begin

An alternate method is available if the device is unresponsive or won't power on.

Steps

  1. Press and hold the
    Power / Side button
     and
    Volume down button
     until the 'Power off' prompt appears on the screen then release.
  2. Touch and hold
    Power off
     until the Safe mode prompt appears then release.
  3. To confirm, tap
    Safe mode
    .
  4. Once Safe mode appears in the lower left of your Home screen, ensure Airplane Mode is turned off then test device and app functionality.
  5. To exit Safe Mode, restart the device.
