Report Spam Messages

Here's how to report Spam messages if you are receiving unwanted text messages.
  • Verizon takes our customers' privacy seriously. Help us end Spam and other nuisance messaging by sending suspected Spam and unwanted messages to 7726.
    • The investigation begins as soon as the spam message is sent to 7726.
    • There are no charges associated with sending or receiving texts to 7726.
  • Spam includes all forms of unwanted communications including, but not limited to: unsolicited calls or messages, Caller ID spoofing, robocalls, etc. Typically, spam is directed to large numbers of users for the purposes of advertising, phishing, spreading malware, etc.
  • Don't give out any personal info. Identity thieves often pose as representatives of banks, retailers, credit card companies, creditors, or government agencies to get account numbers, SSNs, mother's maiden names, passwords, and other identifying info.

  2. Forward the suspected Spam message to

    A response message is received requesting additional info.
  3. Respond to the shortcode message by providing the sender's MDN on the suspicious message.
  4. If preferred, block the sender using My Verizon or through the device.
  5. Delete the message.
If you're using Verizon Message+, you can report Spam messages directly within the Message+ app with the below steps.
