Manage Hotspot Settings

Turn on the hotspot feature for your moto g power 5G to share mobile data with other devices. Set up the network name, password and security type to enhance security.

Steps

  1. Open the
    Settings app
    .
  2. Navigate:
    Network & internet
    Mobile Hotspot & Tethering
    Mobile Hotspot
    .
  3. Tap the
    Use Wi-Fi hotspot switch
     to turn on.
  4. From the Mobile Hotspot screen, configure the following as needed:
    • Hotspot name (SSID)
    • Hide my device
    • Security (e.g., None, WPA3-Personal, WPA2/WPA3-Personal, etc.)
    • Hotspot password
      1. Tap the Password field to remove the existing password.
      2. Enter the new password then tap
        OK
        .
  5. Tap
    Extend compatibility
     to turn on or off the use of the 2.4 GHz hotspot.
  6. Tap
    Manage devices
     to limit which devices are allowed to connect.
  7. Tap
    Manage allowed devices
    .
  8. Tap
    Allow all devices
     to enable or disable.
  9. To add a device, tap
    Add allowed device
     then do the following:
    1. Enter the MAC address and device name then tap
      OK
      .
    2. Repeat as necessary, then when finished, tap the
      Back arrow icon
      .
  10. Tap
    Device limit
     then select an option (e.g., 1-10).
  11. Tap
    Timeout settings
     then select a preferred option (e.g., Never turn off, 5 minutes, etc.).
