Use facial recognition on your Pixel 8a to secure your device and personal info. If you decide to switch methods, you can delete your face data anytime.

Before you begin

Ensure a secure lock screen (e.g., PIN, pattern, etc.) is set up.

Steps

  1. Open the
    Settings app
    .
  2. Navigate:
    Security & privacy
    Device unlock
    Face
    .
  3. Enter the current PIN, password or pattern.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • For first-time setup:
      1. Review the info then tap
        I agree
        .
      2. Review the info then tap
        Start
        .
      3. Align your face within the circle and follow onscreen prompts until the process is complete.
    • To remove face data:
      1. Tap
        Trash icon
        .
      2. To confirm, review the disclaimer then tap
        Delete
        .
