Activate / Set Up Device

Activate your moto g 5G to get started. This ensures you can make calls, send messages and connect to the internet.

Before you begin

If using a physical SIM card, make sure a 5G SIM card is inserted into the device before powering on.

Press and hold the

Power button

until the device begins to power on. Select your language then tap

Start

Confirm the correct phone number displays then tap

To set up your phone using an old phone, select

Android device

iPhone or iPad

. Otherwise, tap

Skip

Connect to a Wi-Fi network.

Turn privacy and security features on or off then tap

Accept & continue

Set up a screen lock and fingerprints or face recognition to secure your device.

Choose who will be using the device.

To copy apps and data, tap

to transfer your content or tap

Don't copy

Follow the onscreen prompts to review and accept the Google Services options (e.g., Location, etc.).

Select your device backup options in case your device is lost, stolen or damaged.

From the Continue setup screen, tap

Leave & get reminder

to finish setup later.

Follow the onscreen prompts to configure Quick Share, Hey Google, Voice Match, etc.

To allow Verizon Services to collect Location and App info, tap

Agree

to add additional storage with Verizon Cloud or secure your device with Verizon Protect.

Add your email to allow Motorola to communicate with you.

to complete the activation.
