Manage Hotspot Settings

Turn on the hotspot feature for your moto g 5G to share mobile data with other devices. Set up the network name, password and security type to enhance security.

Steps

  1. Open the
    Settings app
    .
  2. Navigate:
    Network & internet
    Mobile Hotspot & Tethering
    Mobile Hotspot
    .
  3. Tap the
    Use Wi-Fi hotspot switch
     to turn on.
  4. From the Mobile Hotspot screen, configure the following as needed:
    • Hotspot name
    • Hide my device
    • Security (e.g., None, WPA2 PSK, etc.)
    • Hotspot password
      1. Tap the Password field to remove the existing password.
      2. Enter the password then tap
        OK

    • Extend compatibility
      To use both 2.4GHz and 5GHz hotspot, tap to turn on or off.
    • Manage Devices
      Restrict which devices are allowed to connect.
      1. Tap
        Manage allowed devices
        .
      2. Tap
        Allow all devices
         to enable or disable.
      3. To add, tap
        Add allowed device
         enter the MAC address and device name then tap
        OK
        .
      4. Tap
        Device limit
         then select an option (e.g., 1-10).
    • Timeout Settings
      Select the preferred option (e.g., 5 minutes, 10 minutes, etc.).
