Turning data on your moto g 5G provides access to online services over the cellular network, while turning it off will impact that experience unless connected to Wi-Fi.

Steps

  1. Open the
    Settings app
    .
  2. Navigate:
    Network & internet
    Mobile network
    .
  3. Tap the name of the appropriate SIM (e.g., Verizon, etc.) then do any of the following:
    • To turn data on or off:
      1. Tap the
        Use SIM switch
         to turn or off.
      2. If prompted, tap
        OK
         to confirm.
    • To allow / deny data roaming:
      Depending on your plan, enabling data roaming may cause roaming charges (e.g., when traveling internationally).
      1. Tap the
        International Data Roaming switch
         to turn on or off.
      2. If prompted with 'Allow data roaming?', tap
        OK
         to confirm if you agree.
