Set Up in Standalone Mode for a ChildFollow these steps to set up your Galaxy Watch6 in Kid Setup for a child using your Android™ smartphone.
Before you begin
To set up without restrictions, refer to Set Up with Number Share (Set Up for Myself).
Verify your smartphone has:
- OneUI 5.1 or higher installed.
- the Bluetooth® setting turned on.
- a network connection and cellular or Wi-Fi is enabled.
- the Galaxy Wearable app installed via the Google Play™ Store.
- the Google account dedicated as the parent account via Family Link.
Ensure the following accounts have been created:
- a Google account for yourself and Google Account for your child using Family Link. Refer to Google For Families Help for assistance.
To set up with Kid Setup, the companion smartphone must be activated on the same Verizon account as the Galaxy Watch7.
Steps
- From the parent phone, open theGalaxy Wearable appthen tapStart.
- If necessary, tapGalaxy Watch6.
- Ensure the passkey matches what's displayed on the Galaxy Watch6 then tapConfirm.
- From the Set up your Galaxy Watch screen, tapSet up for a child.
- From the Set up your child's watch with your phone screen, tapNext.
- If prompted to update watch, tapUpdate now.
- From the Get your child's watch set up screen, tapLet's go.
- From the Select your Google Account screen, tap the Google parent account then tapContinue.
- From the Who will be using this device screen, tap the applicable child account.
- To continue, enter the Google parent account password then tapNext.
- Review the Terms of service, select the desired options then tapI agree.
- From the Set up parental controls screen, tapGet startedand follow the onscreen prompts to review and complete additional parental control info.
- From the Samsung account and watch settings screen, tapOnward.
- From the Who's going to use this watch screen, tap the applicable child.
- Review the Galaxy Watch Child Privacy Disclosure to Parents then tapAgree.
- Review the agreements and policies, tap (check)I agree to all (optional)then tapContinue.
- When the Set an unlock PIN or pattern for your child screen appears, from the watch set up a Pattern or PIN.
- To continue with setup, follow the onscreen prompts (i.e., Samsung Find, Automatic watch backup, etc.) to customize additional watch features.
- From the Get connected screen, tapNext.
- From the Mobile service for your watch screen, tapNextor tapSkipto add a cellular plan after setup is complete.
- When prompted with Set up a Verizon plan on your child’s watch, tapUse plan.
- Keep your watch and phone close together until you receive an alert that the Verizon plan set up is successful then tapNext.
- From the Set up Samsung Health screen, tapSet upthen follow the onscreen steps.
