Google Maps - Add Layers

Here's how to add layers in Google Maps.
  • If the Google Maps™ app isn't already installed on your device, it can be downloaded from the Google Play Store.
  • The location and appearance of icons may differ depending upon the Android device.
  • For further assistance, refer to the Google Maps Help Center.
  1. From a Home screen, tap
    Apps
    .
  2. Tap
    Maps
     Maps.
  3. Tap the
    Menu icon
     Menu icon (upper-left).
  4. Tap the appropriate layer:
    • Traffic
      : Highways are displayed in green, yellow or red based on real-time traffic data.
    • Public Transit
      : Displays subway, bus and train schedules.
    • Bicycling
      : Displays bike routes.
    • Satellite
      : Maps are displayed from a satellite view.
    • Terrain
      : Combination of street maps with geographic features (e.g. mountains, buildings).
    • Google Earth
      : Launches Google Play, Google Earth install screen.
