Manage Fios Wi-Fi settings FAQs

To connect a device to your Wi-Fi network, you'll need your network name and password.

To add an Apple iOS smartphone or tablet:

1. Open Settings.
2. Select Wi-Fi and enable Wi-Fi.
3. Choose your network name.
4. Enter your Wi-Fi password and select Join.

Add an Android smartphone or tablet:

1. Start from Apps and select Settings.
2. Select Wi-Fi and enable Wi-Fi.
3. Choose your network name.
4. Enter your Wi-Fi password and select Join.

Add a computer (Mac or PC):

1. Locate the Wi-Fi icon and turn Wi-Fi on.
2. Select your network name from the available list.
3. Enter your Wi-Fi password and select Join or Connect.

Add a game console:

1. Connect an Ethernet cable into the LAN port on your router for maximum speed, or choose a wireless connection.
2. Open Connection settings or Network settings on your gaming system.
3. Select Wi-Fi or Wireless to scan for available networks.
4. Select your network name, enter your Wi-Fi password, and test the connection.

Change your network name or password:

1. Sign in to My Verizon.
2. Hover over Services and select Internet.
3. Under My Network, select a network to Manage.
4. Enter your new credentials and select Save Changes.

Good to know: If you have separate Wi-Fi names for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks, the password's always the same for both. After applying changes, reconnect each Wi-Fi device using your new network name and password.

Change your Wi-Fi name or password through your router:

1. Open your web browser and enter 192.168.1.1.
2. Sign in with your router username and password (the default username's admin, and you'll find the default password on your router label).
3. Follow the onscreen directions or your router's user guide to update your network settings.

Good to know: If you changed your router password and don't remember it, learn how to reset your router to factory default settings.

Turn off Wi-Fi or limit access to specific devices to improve security and free up bandwidth:

• Turn off Wi-Fi when you're not using it.
• Hide your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) from public view.
• Limit access to specific wireless devices using MAC address filtering.

Turn off Wi-Fi access in My Verizon:

1. Hover over Services and select Internet.
2. Under My Network, select a network to Manage.
3. Switch Enable Wi-Fi Access off and select Save Changes.

Configure Wi-Fi access controls manually in your router:

1. Open your web browser and enter 192.168.1.1.
2. Sign in with your router username (admin) and password from the router label.
3. Follow the onscreen directions or your router's user guide to adjust access controls.

IPv6 is the latest industry standard for Internet communications, adopted by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) in 2017, being rolled out across the industry over a period of years. The main reason for introducing it is to expand the number of IP addresses available to connect the billions of devices around the world. The new standard also delivers other benefits including enhanced efficiency.

Yes, for Dynamic IP addressing, we support both IP4v and IPv6, often referred to as “dual stack”. Support for Static IPv6 addresses is in the process of being rolled out across our footprint. Please note that not all routers support IPv6.
