Smart Setup - Backup and transfer between Apple phones
Now it's time to move all your content from your old phone to your new one.
Since you're transferring between two Apple phones, you have four options when it comes to moving your content.
Let's look at the benefits they each offer...
First up is the Verizon Content Transfer app.
It basically takes a copy of what's on your old phone and pastes it onto your new one, which does make it a little faster than some other options.
There's no limit to how much you can transfer and it's totally free.
Since the Verizon Content Transfer app doesn't back anything up, you may want to look for a way to protect your memories and other content once you're all set up.
Or you could choose the Verizon Cloud app.
It lets you backup, sync, securely store and access all your content right from your phone or tablet.
You can start off with a free introductory trial and keep your memories safe with an affordable monthly fee later on.
You'll backup the content from your old phone to the Verizon Cloud app, then download it onto your new one.
Plus, all your content stays in the Cloud and backs up automatically every day, so you never have to worry about losing it and you can free up space on your phone. It can even be used with any operating system, so moving to a different device down the road will be even easier.
Overall, Verizon Cloud gives you more options and peace of mind.
Another option is iCloud.
It's already built-in to your device and works similar to Verizon Cloud.
iCloud does give you some free storage space and you can always buy more if you need to.
If you're already using iCloud to backup your content, this is your best choice.
Finally, you can backup using your computer by downloading iTunes.
You'll connect your old phone to it and backup your content. Once that's done, you can connect your new phone and select Restore Backup.
If you want to backup automatically every night, you'll need to use iCloud or Verizon Cloud after you're done transferring.
Now you know the four options you can work with. If you're still not quite sure which way to go, check out the other helpful info on the Smart Setup site.
After that, you'll be ready for the next step: setting up your new phone.
