What is a wireless network range extender? A wireless network range extender is a hardware device that increases the signal range of your wireless router or gateway. It receives the wireless signal from your current router or gateway and boosts the signal so it can reach areas of your home beyond the reach of the router or gateway alone. This allows you locate your computers or other wireless devices farther from your router or gateway.

Before purchasing a network range extender, you may want to check your router's location to ensure you aren't limiting its range by its proximity to walls or other barriers to the signals.

Verizon doesn't sell or recommend any specific range extenders. You can purchase a network range extender from most computer retail stores.
