Home Control: Choose your service

Remote Control  

The optional Remote Control device allows you to store up to four “modes” (a programmed command). A mode is a programmed  command used to run one or more devices without using your computer, compatabile smartphone, or FiOS TV.  Important: The remote does not directly “power on” lights or appliances like a TV remote.  

 

Set up

Set up your Remote Control from the Setup Wizard 

After you set up your Gateway Device, you'll set up your Remote Control to "communicate" or be "paired" with the Gateway Device. Then, you'll use the Setup Wizard to "pair" or connect other devices in your home network (except door locks and cameras). 

 

After pairing, any devices communicating with the Remote Control will be able to send messages to your computer, smartphone, or FiOS TV.

 

Note: The following devices are not paired with the Remote Control: Indoor, Outdoor, or Pan and Tilt Camera; and Door Lever Keypad and Deadbolt keypad locks. These devices are only paired with the Gateway.

 

Remote Control Setup and Pairing Tips:

  • Important: You must first create a mode and then assign it to one of the four Remote Control number buttons before you can run the mode from the Remote Control. The remote does not directly “power on” lights or appliances like a FiOS TV remote.

  • Fully charge your Remote Control before you pair it with the Gateway Device. If the Remote Control is not fully charged, you won't be able to successfully pair it with the Gateway or other devices.
  • You only have 30 seconds to pair your remote to the Gateway Device. If you take longer, you'll have to repeat the pairing process noted in the Setup Wizard.

     

  • How do I know if my Remote Control is paired with the Gateway Device?  The blue LED will stay solid for 2 seconds to indicate a successful pairing; the red LED will stay solid for 2 seconds to indicate that your device did not pair successfully.



  • How do I pair other devices with my Remote Control? Visit the Setup Wizard, select your device and follow the on-screen instructions to pair your device with the Remote Control.
