Here's how to enable or disable Touch ID for use with screen lock and purchases.

The steps below only apply to the Apple® iPhone® models with Touch ID. For Face ID, refer to Manage Face ID Settings.

For the fingerprint scanner to operate, hands must be clean and free of moisture, dirt, oil, lotion, dyes, etc.

Open the

Settings app

Tap

Touch ID & Passcode

If prompted, enter your passcode.

Tap any of the available the switch(es) (e.g., iPhone Unlock, iTunes & App Store, etc.) to turn on or off:

Options will vary based on iOS version and iPhone model.

Tap

Stolen Device Protection

then tap the

Stolen Device Protection switch

to turn on or off.

Only available with iOS 17.3 or later.
