Samsung Galaxy S8 / S8+ - Manage Hotspot Settings

Here's how to configure the hotspot settings (e.g., password, network name, timeout settings, etc.) on your Galaxy S8 / S8+.
  1. Open the
    Settings app
    .
  2. Navigate:
    Connections
    Mobile Hotspot and Tethering
    Mobile Hotspot
    .
  3. Tap the
    Menu icon
    Menu icon.
  4. Tap
    Configure Mobile Hotspot
    .
  5. Configure any of the following:
    • Network name
    • Hide my phone
    • Security (Open or WPA2 PSK)
    • Password
      The new password must be entered on the connecting device.
      1. Tap the Password field to remove the existing password.
      2. Enter the password then tap
        Save
        .
    • Power saving mode
  6. Tap
    Save
    .
  7. Tap
    Show advanced options
    .
  8. Tap
    Use 5 GHz band when available
    to turn on or off.
  9. Tap the
    Dropdown menu icon
    Dropdown menu icon then select a channel (e.g., Auto, 1, 3, 11, etc.).
  10. Tap
    Save
    .
  11. Tap
    Timeout settings
    .
  12. Select an option (e.g., Never timeout, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 60 minutes, etc.).
  13. Tap
    Allowed Devices
    .
  14. Tap
    Allowed devices only
    to turn on or off.
  15. Perform any of the following:
    • To add a device:
      1. Tap
        Add
        .
      2. Enter the Device name and MAC address then tap
        Add
        .
    • To remove a device:
      1. Tap
        Delete
        .
      2. Select the device(s).
      3. Tap
        Delete
        .
