Samsung Galaxy S8 / S8+ - Activate / Set Up Device

Here's how to perform a quickly set up your Galaxy S8 / S8+.
To activate the device on prepaid service, refer to Set up Verizon Prepaid Service.
  1. If powered off, press and hold the
    Power button
     until the Samsung Galaxy S8 / S8+ screen appears then release.

  2. Select the appropriate language then tap the
    right arrow icon
    .
    Select a language then tap the arrow
  3. To continue, review the 'Terms and Conditions', screen then tap
    Next
    .
    Review terms then tap Next
  4. From the 'Phone Activation' screen, tap
    Next
    .
    If prompted, enter the account PIN then follow the onscreen prompts (see Account PIN FAQs for additional info).
    If activating a new phone, ensure the old phone is powered off.
    Tap Next
  5. From the 'Bring your old data for quicker setup' screen, select the preferred option then tap
    Next

    If troubleshooting, don't restore the device until all testing has been completed.
    Select an option then tap Next
  6. From the 'Set up Wi-Fi' screen, select a network then enter the password.

    Skip
     to add Wi-Fi networks after setup is complete.

  7. Sign in to your existing Google™ account or create a new one.
    Tap

     to add your existing account after setup is complete.
    Sign in to your Gmail account
  8. From the 'Google services' screen, select any of the following to turn on Switch on or off Switch off then tap

  9. From the 'Protect your phone' screen, tap an option.

    Not now
     to add a screen lock or set up face , Iris™ or fingerprint recognition after setup is complete.

  10. From the 'Verizon Cloud' screen, tap
    Next

    Tap
    Skip
     to set up Verizon Cloud after setup is complete.
    Tap Next
  11. From the 'Email setup' screen, select an email account type then enter your sign-in info.

     to add an email account after setup is complete.
    Sign in to your personal email
  12. From the 'Sign in to your Samsung account' screen, sign in to your existing account or create a new Samsung account.
    Tap
    Skip
     to add a Samsung account after setup is complete.
    Enter Samsung account
  13. From the 'Setup Wizard is complete' screen, tap
    Done
    .
    Tap Done
