Samsung Galaxy Note8 - Google Backup and Restore

Here's how to ensure your Gmail, contacts, apps, etc. are backed up on your Galaxy Note8.
  1. Open the
    Settings app
    .
  2. Navigate:
    Accounts and backup
    Backup and restore
    .
  3. From the Google account section, tap the
    Back up my data switch
    to turn on or off.
If turned off, existing backups are deleted from Google's servers.
  4. To change the backup account, tap
    Backup account
then tap the preferred Google (Gmail) account or tap Add account.
  5. Tap
    Automatic restore
    to turn on or off.
  • Backups can't be restored from a higher Android version onto a phone with a lower Android version.
  • When a Google account is added to your phone, previous backups are restored. This can be done by adding an existing Google account to your already active phone or by signing in to the same Google account while setting up your new or reset phone.
