Samsung Galaxy Note8 - Activate / Set Up Device

These steps guide you through setting up and customizing your Galaxy Note8 for everyday use.
For info on prepaid service activation, refer to Set up Verizon Prepaid Service.
  1. If powered off, press and hold the
    Power button
     until the Samsung Galaxy Note8 screen appears then release.

  2. Select the appropriate language then tap the

  3. To continue, select (check) the following then tap

     (lower-right):
    Review the info before continuing.

    • Terms and conditions
      Must be selected to continue.
    • Privacy Policy
      Must be selected to continue.
    • Send Diagnostic data (optional)
  4. From the 'Phone Activation' screen, tap
    Next

    If prompted, enter the account PIN then follow the onscreen prompts (see Account PIN FAQs for additional info).
    If activating a new phone, ensure the old phone is powered off.

  5. From the 'Bring your old data for quicker setup' screen, select one of the following options then tap

    If troubleshooting, don't restore the device until all testing has been completed.
    • Wireless
      Only available with Samsung Galaxy devices.
    • Cable and USB connector
      Bring data from another device (iPhone, Android, etc.).
    • Skip this for now

  6. From the 'Set up Wi-Fi' screen, select a network then enter the password.

  7. Sign in to your existing Google™ account or create a new one.

  8. From the 'Google services' screen, select any of the following to turn on Switch on or off Switch off then tap

  9. From the 'Protect your phone' screen, tap an option.

     to add a screen lock or set up face , iris or fingerprint recognition after setup is complete.

  11. From the 'Email setup' screen, select an email account type then enter your sign-in info.
