moto g6 - Move Media Files to / from Computer
Here's how to transfer pictures, videos or music files between your moto g6 and a computer.
Only unprotected video / music files can be transferred using this method.
- If using a Macintosh® computer, additional software is required in order to transfer files.
- Media can also be transferred from internal storage to an SD / memory card.
- Connect your moto g6 to a computer using the supplied USB cable.
- If prompted to allow access to your data, tapAllow.
- If necessary, touch and hold theStatus bar(at the top) then drag to the bottom.The image below is an example.
- From the list of notifications, locate then tap theAndroid System icon
(e.g., USB charging, USB for image transfer, etc.).
If necessary, tap the notification to expand it. - SelectTransfer files.Selected when a dot is present.
- From your computer, open File Explorer or Windows Explorer.Using the computer keyboard, press theWindows+E(
+E)
keys.Alternatively, right-clickStartthen click 'Open Windows Explorer' or 'File Explorer'. - Using File Explorer or Windows Explorer, navigate:.moto (g6) is listed under the 'Devices and drives' section of 'This PC'.Device name reflects your device model [e.g., moto (g6)] or its customized name.
- Utilize the computer to copy media files between the appropriate folder on the device and the desired location on the computer's hard drive.Some folders that may contain files on the device include:
- DCIM\Camera
- Download
- Movies
- Pictures
- Music
- When finished, disconnect the USB cable from the computer.
