Device Protection On / OffAndroid™ Device Protection helps keep your Galaxy S10 / S10+ / S10e safe, but should be turned off before resetting, trading or selling it.
Before you begin
If the sign-in credentials for the Google account used to enable Android Device Protection on the device are unknown, have the customer do one of the following:
- Attempt to sign in with any Google account that was previously used on the device.
- Reset the password via the www.google.com/accounts/recovery website.
Android Device Protection (Kill Switch) prevents unauthorized use of your device by requiring your Gmail address and password to be entered before the device can be set up if it's reset using the alternate reset method.
When a trusted reset is performed, device protection isn't enabled.
Steps
- Review the following:
- If you have a Google™ (Gmail™) account on your smartphone, device protection is automatically turned on. If needed, you can add a Google account.
- To turn off device protection, remove all Google accounts from the device.
