5G MiFi® M1000 - Advanced Settings
Here's how to change advanced settings (e.g., Networks, Manual DNS, etc.) on your 5G MiFi M1000.
To change the advanced settings (e.g., VPN Passthrough enable, Network Name broadcast enable, etc.) on your MiFi, view this info.
Changing advanced settings may be harmful to the stability, performance, and security of the MiFi. Contact your local IT admin prior to altering any of these settings.

- Refer to Port Forwarding.
Networks
For info regarding APN settings, refer to Edit Access Point Name (APN).
- Access the Admin Web Interface.
- From the Settings section, click theNavigation arrow
(lower-right) to open the Settings page.
- Click theAdvanced tab, review the warning then clickContinue.
- ClickNetworks(located below the Advanced tab).
- From the Network Selection section, click the'Allow device to connect to the mobile network' switchto turn on
or off
.
If turned off, the device disconnects from the mobile network. - Click the'Enable automatic network selection' switchto turn on or off.LTE/UMTS are the automatically selected networks.If needed, click to search for other available networks.
- ClickSave Changes.
Manual DNS
Domain Name Server (DNS) settings are automatically assigned by the device. If turning on manual DNS is necessary, contact your local IT administrator for assistance.
- Access the Admin Web Interface.
- From the Settings section, click theNavigation arrow
(lower-right) to open the Settings page.
- Click theAdvanced tab, review the warning then clickContinue.
- ClickManual DNS(located below the Advanced tab).
- SelectTurn on Manual DNSto turn on
or off
.
On when a check mark is present. - From the DNS 1 IP address and DNS 2 IP address fields, enter the appropriate info.
- ClickSave Changes.
Firewall
- Access the Admin Web Interface.
- From the Settings section, click theNavigation arrow
(lower-right) to open the Settings page.
- Click theAdvanced tab, review the warning then clickContinue.
- ClickFirewall(located below the Advanced tab).
- Tap the switch for any of the following to turn on
or off

- VPN Passthrough
- IPv6 Transparent Mode
- From the DMZ (IPv4) section, selectDMZto turn on or off.On when a check mark is present.If on, enter the appropriate IP address into the Destination IP address field.
- ClickSave Changes.
LAN
- Access the Admin Web Interface.
- From the Settings section, click theNavigation arrow
(lower-right) to open the Settings page.
- Click theAdvanced tab, review the warning then clickContinue.
- ClickLAN(located below the Advanced tab).
- From the IPv4 section, enter the desired info into the following fields:
- IP Address
- Subnet Mask
- MAC Address
- Turn on DHCP serverOn when a check mark is present.
- DHCP lease time
- Start DHCP address range at
- From the IPv6 section, selectTurn on IPv6to turn on or off.On when a check mark is present.
- ClickSave Changes.
VPN
When an OpenVPN tunnel is established, all connected device traffic is sent through the tunnel and settings such as
Port Filtering
and Port Forwarding
don't apply.- Access the Admin Web Interface.
- From the Settings section, click theNavigation arrow
(lower-right) to open the Settings page.
- Click theAdvanced tab, review the warning then clickContinue.
- ClickVPN(located below the Advanced tab).
- To begin, clickConfigure.VPN settings.
- If needed, drag and drop files from your VPN provider into theSetup files box.
- Enter the username and password in to the fields.
- Click the Auto-connect VPN switch to turn on
or off
.
- If VPN is configured, view the Connection status and Connection time from the VPN Connection section.You can also clickView logto view past connection info.
- To delete saved VPN info, clickClear all VPN settings.
- ClickSave Changes.
